The 7-Day AI App Roadmap — Ship Your First Product in One Week

If you've been "going to build an AI app" for 6 months, this is your week. The roadmap below is the same one we use inside the AI Student Factory program — distilled here, free, hour by hour.

Before You Start: The Two Non-Negotiables

  1. Block 2 hours a day, same time every day. Sporadic effort kills momentum.
  2. Pick one idea on Day 1 and don't change it. Switching ideas mid-week is the #1 reason people don't finish.

Day 1 — Idea + Validation (2 hrs)

Goal: Walk away with one specific idea and 5 conversations with real humans who'd use it.

  • Hour 1: List 10 problems you've personally hit this month. Pick the one you'd most want solved.
  • Hour 2: DM 10 people who have the same problem. Goal: 5 replies, 3 enthusiastic.

Day 2 — Prompt + Wireframe (2 hrs)

Goal: One working AI prompt + a 4-screen wireframe.

  • Hour 1: Solve the problem manually in ChatGPT/Claude. Save the prompt that worked.
  • Hour 2: Sketch 4 screens on paper or in Figma — landing, input, output, account.

Day 3 — Generate the App Shell (2.5 hrs)

Goal: A live URL with the basic UI working (no AI wired yet).

  • Open a no-code AI builder (Lovable, Bolt, or AI Student Factory).
  • Describe the 4 screens. Iterate 3-5 times until the UI matches your wireframe.
  • Add auth and a basic database.

Day 4 — Wire In the AI (2.5 hrs)

Goal: The core feature actually works end-to-end.

  • Connect an AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or a built-in gateway).
  • Plug in the Day 2 prompt.
  • Test with 3 real inputs. Fix the worst issue.

Day 5 — Payments + Polish (2 hrs)

Goal: Anyone can pay and use the product without your help.

  • Add Stripe with one price tier ($9 or $19/month).
  • Write a 3-sentence landing page that promises one outcome.
  • Test the full flow: sign up → pay → use → success.

Day 6 — Launch Prep (1.5 hrs)

Goal: Launch assets ready to fire on Day 7.

  • Record a 60-second demo video (phone is fine).
  • Write your launch tweet, LinkedIn post, and Reddit post.
  • Make a list of 30 people to DM directly.

Day 7 — Launch (1.5 hrs)

Goal: First 5 real users, even if 4 are free.

  • Post everywhere at the same time.
  • DM your 30 people personally.
  • Respond to every reply within 1 hour.
  • Celebrate — you shipped. Most people never do.

What Happens on Day 8

The real work starts. Talk to every user. Ship one improvement a day. Within 30 days you'll have a clearer signal about whether to scale, pivot, or wind down — and you'll have learned more than 90% of your peers.

Want the guided version? AI Student Factory bundles this exact 7-day roadmap with a builder, templates, and a community of other builders doing the same week — for $19 one-time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I really build an AI app in 7 days as a beginner?

Yes, if you commit 2 hours per day to the steps below and don't add scope. The 7-day timeline assumes a focused minimum viable product, not a polished v3.

How many hours per day does the 7-day roadmap require?

1.5-2.5 hours per day on average — heavier on Days 2-4 (building), lighter on Days 6-7 (launching).

What if I get stuck on a specific day?

Don't skip ahead — finish the day's outcome before moving on, even if it's ugly. Each day builds on the previous. If you're stuck for more than 90 minutes, switch to a simpler version of the same task.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. The roadmap uses chat-driven AI builders for the build days. You'll describe what you want in English.

What if my app isn't ready to launch on Day 7?

Launch anyway. Real users seeing a 70%-ready app teach you more than another week of solo polishing ever will. Day 7 is the start of iteration, not the finish line.
